So which IP address you are looking for? An Internal IP address which is assigned by your modem/router or an External/Public IP address which is a unique address assigned to your computer.
Let's know about it in detail below.
Internal IP address can be found easily and mostly it is known by almost everyone. There are two ways to find your internal IP. Please follow the below steps to know your Internal IP address.
Method 1:
Step 1: Click on Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt.
(Simply press windows key +R, Run prompt will be opened. Now type cmd to open the Command Prompt directly)
Step 2: Now type 'ipconfig' in the command prompt.
Step 3: Look for Ipv4 address in the command prompt.
Step 4: The address beside the Ipv4 address is your Internal IP address.
Method 2:
Step 1: Click on Start--> Control Panel--> Network and sharing center
(Directly click on the connection symbol present on your taskbar, and click on Open Network and sharing center)
Step 2: Under 'view your active connections', Click on Connections.
Step 3: Network Connection status pop up will be opened.
Step 4: Now click on the 'Details' tab.
Step 5: Look for Ipv4 address, the IP address beside this is your Internal IP address.
To find External/Public IP address of any computer, it must be connected to the Internet.
Step 1: Open any popular search engine like Google, and search for 'What is my IP' or 'What's my IP' (obviously without quotes)
Step 2: It will directly display your External/Public IP.
Step 3: There are many websites which provides the External IP details, DNS server details etc., some of the most visited popular websites are
www.whatismyip.com
www.whatismyipaddress.com
